Safety Committee Leadership Transition

October 23rd, 2024

After nine years as the chair of the ICAS Safety Committee, Major General Brian Bishop (USAF, retired) has stepped down from the position. Since taking on the role in late 2016, Bishop’s dedication and leadership in safety have been instrumental in navigating ICAS through many challenges while ensuring the continued safety of air shows. During Bishop’s tenure, the air show community averaged only one fatal accident per year—an impressive achievement when compared to the 30-year average of 2.63 fatal accidents annually. His commitment to safety has left a lasting impact, and ICAS cannot thank him enough for the time, energy, and passion he has dedicated to our industry.

Dennis Dunbar has stepped in as the new chair of the ICAS Safety Committee. Dunbar, who has been an active member of the Safety Committee for many years and is currently serving in an ex officio status as a member of the ICAS Board of Directors, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role.
