Aerobatic Competency Evaluation (ACE)/Statement of Aerobatic Competency (SAC) Program
Since the early 1990’s, ICAS has administered the ACE program in conjunction with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transport Canada.
Participants in the program are evaluated by fellow pilots. Those that receive a satisfactory evaluation are issued a Statement of Aerobatic Competency (SAC) by either the FAA or Transport Canada. A current SAC document is required of any pilot flying aerobatic maneuvers at an air show in the United States or Canada.

In 2018, the Federal Aviation Administration approved the Air Boss Recognition Program administered by ICAS to assess and evaluate individuals working as air bosses in the United States. Applicants who receive a satisfactory evaluation are issued an Air Boss Letter of Authorization (LoA).
Effective January 1, 2020, every air show in the United States will require the involvement of an individual who holds an FAA-issued Air Boss LoA.
